A free day out in the fresh air. Believed to have inspired the Narnia classic tales, this magical nature reserve includes boulders amongst the trees and a large pond with water birds, toads in spring and dragonflies in summer. Before you visit, download a leaflet for the children’s discovery trail from the website. After parking and entering up the little pathway between houses, the pond was our first sight and it’s so tranquil. There’s plenty of flat space on the edge so you can get close to the water where kids have been pond dipping since 1969!
For fun summer days out in Oxford, take the kids to let off steam in Hinksey Park’s lovely large outdoor swimming pool. Leave time to enjoy all the free facilities in Hinksey Park afterwards.
